Earning Online Continued – Content Submission

Content submission is definitely a step higher than PTC programs, surveys and paid communities. In my opinion, there’s more honor in it mainly because you earn from your own work for which you take responsibility.

The general idea is that you create content, submit or post it to a service and earn either through advertising on your content or through the outright selling of the content. There are several services that offer to help you earn off of your own written content. I give you three options that represent various similar services:

1. Triond

This service lets you publish content about nearly anything of interest to you. Advertising earnings are split between publishers and Triond and that’s mainly how you can make money off of Triond. If you know SEO (which we will tackle later) and if you’ve got lots of contacts to share your content to, you can earn a good figure from this service.

Here are examples of published Triond articles that let authors earn royalties:

2. Squidoo

Like Triond, Squidoo lets you publish content for the whole virtual world to see. In Squidoo, published content is known as lenses. Unlike in Triond, you don’t just write and publish plain articles in Squidoo. You also have the power to put a variety of lens modules that carry links, images, videos and a whole lot more.

How can you make money from Squidoo? There are four ways of earning online through Squidoo. First, you get to split advertising revenue with Squidoo 50/50. Second, you can recommend products from Squidoo’s affiliate programs. Third, you can write about, link to and promote products or services that you are an affiliate of (we shall take up affiliate marketing in a different section). Fourth, you can refer friends to Squidoo and you earn $5 from every $15 your referrals generate.

Here are examples of Squidoo lenses:

3. Constant Content

This is worlds apart from Triond and Squidoo because you don’t really get to earn from published content online. You earn from creating content, submitting it to the service and attracting content buyers. You can choose to sell content as many times as you want or you can sell it once for a high price. Some sell articles for as high as $75 or more. Aside from writing your own content, you can also tap into what article buyers are particularly interested in and try to sell them exactly what they want. Constant Content has a referral program from which you can earn 5% from the earnings of your referrals.

Here are examples of articles sold in Constant Content:

General Advantages: The main advantage of selling content online is that you earn over and over again from written materials that you produce only once. Moreover, high quality online content that is promoted well becomes even more valuable through time and tends to gain greater potential to earn more. This is particularly true for services like Triond and Squidoo. In Constant Content, articles for sale lose their appeal after they have been bought and owned by many buyers.

Another advantage to content submission services like Triond and Squidoo is that you don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. After promoting your articles and lenses once, you can take a break and get back to your regular life. When you get back to them weeks or even months later, they’ll still be around. If you’ve written and promoted them correctly, they will earn a tidy sum for you even as you sleep.

General Disadvantages: To earn from services similar to Triond and Squidoo, you need to know a little about SEO writing, promotion and backlink building. That is if you really want to make a career out of submitting content to these services. Needless to say, this route takes some hard work. I’ve never aggressively promoted my Triond content mainly because I don’t have a lot of time. I still earn a little every month though which isn’t bad at all considering that I haven’t lifted a finger since I published my articles there.

A second disadvantage is the strict screening that articles are subjected to. Of the three services I gave as examples, Constant Content is the strictest. This service advises against writing for SEO so you don’t have to worry about SEO but they do have very strict grammar and content construction rules that will really test your ability to write good English.

The services cited above are only examples of many out there that you might want to explore. As you might have already guessed though, content submission requires more effort than merely clicking on ads and answering surveys.
